Based on the powerful SM2 Recorder Platform, the SM2 Terrestrial Acoustic Package includes two SMX-II weather resistant acoustic microphones. Using the four alkaline "D" size internal batteries, the SM2 can record up to 240 hours spread out through weeks or months at a time. The collected data can then be analyzed with our Song Scope software.

You can use one or both Song Meter channels to record underwater sounds using these hydrophones. This HTI-96-MIN hydrophone comes with a weathertight connector mating to the Song Meter SM2 on an 8 meter cable. Sensitivity is -165dB re 1V/µPa, frequency response is 2Hz to 30kHz, and equivalent input self noise is 78dB re 1µPa.
SMS-T-USP10704 Temperature ProbeThis accurate stainless steel temperature probe is suitable for measuring soil or water temperature and is compatible with the SM2 sensor port. The cable is 10 meters long, and accuracy is generally better than ±2°C. The sensor can also monitor air temperature if properly shielded from solar radiation.

"After testing different devices, we used Song Meters to complete a 3-year comparative study of the calling activity in 5 species of frogs and toads in thermal extremes of their distribution in Spain and Portugal. The reliability of the Song Meters proved to be quite satisfactory, and we are extending the acoustic monitoring of the populations intending to establish the first long-term monitoring system of anurans in Iberia and hoping to detect phenological trends related to climate change."
