The standard Song Meter SM1 includes two built-in microphones and a battery holder for 4 "D" cells.
In addition to the standard Song Meter SM1 product, the following options are available:
The SM1-P provides a 3-foot shielded power cable for an external 6 to 12V DC power source (not included) instead of internal batteries. The cable has ring terminals (#8 screw size) and can be easily adapted to a number of external power supply options such as larger batteries with solar panels, etc. This option costs more than the standard SM1 due to the material and labor costs of the weatherproof cable and power regulator.
The SM1-M provides two 3-foot shielded microphone cables terminated with standard XLR female plugs instead of the built-in stereo microphones (microphones not included). The Song Meter SMX microphones may be used in this configuration, and many other electret microphones (without "phantom" power) are supported as well. This option costs more than the standard SM1 due to the material and labor costs of the weatherproof cables.
The SM1-MP is a combination of SM1-M and SM1-P described above. Instead of internal batteries, a cable is provided for an external power supply (not included). And two 3-foot shielded microphone cables are provided instead of the built-in stereo microphones (microphones not included). The Song Meter SMX microphones may be used in this configuration, and many other electret microphones (without "phantom" power) are supported as well. This option costs more than the standard SM1 due to the material and labor costs of the weatherproof cables and power regulator.

The SMX microphone can be used with the SM1-M or SM1-MP and has the same specifications as the built-in microphones on the SM1 and SM1-P.
