® Software ModulesSong Sleuth's innovative regional software modules give birders a great deal of flexibility. The downloadable modules let you customize and expand your Song Sleuth to meet your individual needs. At present we offer modules of common birds for 14 different regions throughout the continental United States, modules for warblers east and west of the rockies, and more are on the way.
Song Sleuth comes with the regional common birds module of your choice and you can download, store and select additional modules for when you venture into new territories. Each module contains data for identifying some 60 birds and is based on our unique, sophisticated birdsong recognition algorithms. These patent-pending algorithms are derived from more than 500 individual recordings representing 20 continuous hours of birdsongs.
The software modules also contain selected samples of actual recordings of every species included. You can play back what you're heard in the field and compare that with the recorded samples provided. Song Sleuth comes with one free common bird module pre-installed and you can purchase additional modules with your initial order or anytime for US$39.95 . A bundle of all 14 common bird modules is available for only US$249.95 . Prices include any software updates that we offer for one year.
Software modules are licensed for use on a particular Song Sleuth, and unlocked by license keys associated with the Song Sleuth serial number.
Your package will include a CD-ROM, which contains the Song Sleuth manager software and all the encrypted modules, for installing on your Windows or Macintosh computer. (Note that a computer is only required to download additional modules - you can use Song Sleuth and the pre-installed module without a computer). You'll also receive the license keys to unlock your free module and any others you've purchased with your order. When new modules become available, you can purchase license keys and download software on-line.
The 14 U.S. common bird software modules presently available are listed below and shown on the map. There are also 2 warbler identification modules divided into eastern and western regions along the rocky mountains. For a list of the species included in each module, click on the name of the module.
