Beta-testers have shown that SMART produces significantly fewer noise files than other systems, including the SM4BAT, with no loss of information. The SMART System has more processing power than the SM4BATFS, allowing it to run next generation triggering and scrubbing features that improve deciphering of bat calls from other sounds. The SMART system has both pre- and post-trigger settings, which means it captures a little bit of data from before the signal is loud enough to trigger saving a recording. This feature allows SMART to capture bats as they approach and as they leave an area, which assists in identification.
