Prior to mid-2022, the Echo Meter Touch 2 for Android and Echo Meter Touch 2 Pro for Android were manufactured with a Micro-USB plug (“male” connector). This plug can connect directly to a Micro-USB socket (“female” connector), which is more commonly found on older Android phones and tablets.
With the use of a USB on-the-go compatible (“OTG” compatible) adapter with a Micro-USB socket and a USB-C plug, these older EMT 2 modules can plug into a USB-C socket, more commonly found on newer Android devices. The vast majority of USB adapters with this configuration of ports are not designed for OTG compatibility. This FAQ [link to article on USB adapters] describes where to find an adapter that will work.
Starting in mid-2022, we began manufacturing EMT 2 and EMT 2 Pro modules for Android with a USB-C plug. These new modules have the same recording capabilities and audio quality as the earlier modules, but the inclusion of a USB-C plug allows them to connect to most newer Android devices without the use of an adapter.
If you would like to connect a USB-C-equipped EMT module to an older Android device with a Micro-USB socket, you will need a USB on-the-go compatible (“OTG” compatible) adapter with a USB-C socket and a Micro-USB plug. The vast majority of USB adapters with this configuration of ports are not designed for OTG compatibility. This FAQ [link to article on USB adapters] describes where to find an adapter that will work.
